It’s more important than ever for us all to get our physical and mental health back on track, which is why we at Spectrum are always here to support you and the local community to stay active, meet new people and have fun!
Guildford Spectrum is managed by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Guildford Borough Council. Freedom Leisure is one of the leading not-for-profit leisure trusts in the UK, we reinvest any surplus we make back into your local community leisure centre, we have no shareholders, so with the regular payments we receive from you we are able to ensure the long-term future of leisure centres and support the health and wellbeing of your community.
We have been working hard behind the scenes on lots of new and exciting projects, some of which have already been completed. We have invested circa £500,000 over the last few months to improve the customer experience and here are some of the highlights:
Indoor Cycle Centre
At the end of February we opened our brand new Indoor Cycling Centre, equipped with state of the art Life Fitness IC7 bikes. We closed the old cycling studio on level 3 and created the Indoor Cycling Centre on Level 2 next to The Studio, creating a 'Fitness Corridor'.
The new larger location has allowed us to increase the number of bikes and install a new virtual ride system. A brand new and exciting Indoor Cycling timetable will follow in April 2022; offering a wide variety of unique Indoor Cycling classes to suit all abilities.
Outdoor Fitness Box
Opening towards the end of Spring 2022 will be our brand new Outdoor Fitness Box. This new outdoor fitness area will lead the way in functional outdoor fitness training in Guildford, and provide added value for our members. We are currently in final planning stages with construction work due to begin before the end of March. Make sure you are following our social media accounts for further updates.
Improvements in the Ice
Early in 2022 we had a new ice plant installed. By ‘Plant’ we mean a new giant freezer to make sure the ice rink doesn't turn into our 5th swimming pool! This was installed to maintain and control the extreme temperatures that we have in the ice rink and improve the quality of our ice for all our skaters.
On the 7th June we will be closing the ice rink for a week to complete a repaint and resurface of the whole ice pad.
In July we will be replacing all the old rinkside benches with brand new bench seating blocks. The new seating will be there for all ice spectators to enjoy.
Improvements in the Bowl
In February this year we got the first batch of brand new pool themed bowling balls. We soon receive a second delivery, meaning all our bowling bowls will be brand new pool themed.

Building refresh
Over the last 4 months we have been working on refreshing the catering and communal areas. These plans will continue and we will keep refreshing all areas within Guildford Spectrum.
